Curriculum

The Southwest Intermediate curriculum is designed to be a gateway to the full online, computer-based education offered at Southwest Secondary Learning Center. Classes begin at 8:00 am and go through till 3:00 pm and contain the following basic schedule broken down by grade:

7th Grade Basic Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
Math, Language Arts & Literature, Spanish and Physical Education are taught in a traditional classroom by our certified teachers and educational assistants during 90 minute blocks. Classrooms are located within a few feet of each other, and students move in groups between each class.

Wednesday
Computer-based instruction is held in two 3-hour blocks consisting of Smart Lab or Science using online curricula every other week. The community-based instructional trips are held on alternate Wednesdays, so that every other week students are off campus, learning within our community.

Friday
Student have a full three hour block of Science on line, as well as a 90 minute block of Spanish and a 90 minute block of Physical Education in traditional classroom settings.

8th Grade Basic Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
Language Arts & Literature, Spanish and Physical Education are taught in a traditional classroom by our certified teachers and educational assistants during 90 minute blocks. Both History and Science are taught using our online curriculum in blocks of 90 minutes. The Math curriculum contains online component as well as classroom instruction.

Wednesday
